John Gentile: The Romney-Ryan Presidential Bid

Presidential candidate Mitt Romney chose Wisconsin representative Paul Ryan as his running mate in an attempt to unite the deeply divided Republican Party.  The 5.3 trillion dollars in discretionary spending cuts is effectively endorsed by Romney at least for the duration of the campaign season.

It is too early to determine how this will affect the national polls which recently showed President Obama having a significant lead over Governor Romney. But it does put Ryan's budget proposal on the front burner, giving both Obama and Romney plenty of fuel for the campaign battle.

For the first time since the GOP primaries ended, the Romney plans for our economy and our financial future are clearly defined by the Ryan budget. Likewise the Romney-Ryan vision of Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Welfare and Veteran Benefits are also clearly defined. And Romney, perhaps unwittingly, switched the focus of the Presidential campaign away from jobs.

Rather than re-iterate my position on the Romney-Ryan ticket, I provide two links to articles in usnews.com. These two articles discuss the pros and cons of Romney pick for Vice President.
